David Voorhees
The Full Background

David Voorhees, CFE, CAMS

Forensic investigator and risk strategist. Over 15 years across law enforcement, public accounting, payments, and the credit bureaus, all of it spent on one problem: finding fraud before it finds you.

The Story

I started as a police officer. That is where the evidentiary discipline comes from: meticulous reporting, careful interviewing, evidence that holds up in court. I testified in criminal proceedings on theft, financial crimes, and public safety matters, and I carried that mindset into every job since.

At RSM US LLP I helped establish a forensic data analytics practice, leading engagements from asset tracing in regulatory disputes to investigating organized criminal rings. At InComm Payments I managed the fraud engagement team for a global payments network, including directing the rapid response to a platform vulnerability that mitigated a potential $5.5 million loss. At Equifax I led investigations into systemic manipulation of commercial and consumer credit files, identifying over $3.4 billion in fraudulent trade data, and I now direct strategy for AI-driven fraud detection products.

Today I am also the founder of Blue Horizon Group, a forensic consulting and risk management practice, and of Illuminate Risk, the AI-driven risk assessment platform behind it. The businesses most exposed to fraud are usually the ones without a team like the ones I built. The pattern recognition transfers. The software makes it affordable.
